Iris-WebP

A WebP encoder tuned for the human visual system. Compared to libwebp, the reference encoder, Iris-WebP produces smaller files at the same visual quality and the same encode time. Full results are on the Iris page.

26% Smaller files than libjpeg-turbo at equal CVVDP score. 24% by SSIMULACRA2, 35% by MS-SSIM.
Drop-in Output is standard WebP. Every browser that shows WebP today shows Iris output unchanged.
